Superintendent of Schools

August 28, 2023

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Well, here we go… For many students, the first day of school is in the books. And tomorrow, all 2400+ students will return to school to see old friends, make new friends, and, of course, learn. And despite all our preparation and efforts, we will encounter logistical challenges. One of those logistical challenges–transportation–has already surfaced.

Today, students, parents, and educators at several schools experienced extended wait times, confusion, and frustration with busing. Ironically, many of these issues stemmed from efforts we are implementing to increase efficiency! Please know we are aware of these issues and are working hard to remedy them. The safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority.

We understand that transportation arrangements are a significant concern for many of you. While we are working diligently to ensure a safe and efficient transportation system, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate potential delays and adjustments.

  • To help us address these issues, please call the Transportation Department at 319-1904 if your child’s transportation plan needs to change. Please do not call the school since this will only add a step to the process and possibly cause more delays.

  • We encourage families to find the most consistent plan for their child’s dismissal and stick with it from the first day of school.

Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and flexibility as we embark on this new school year.

Best regards,

Superintendent Potenziano
