101st Air Refueling Wing Congratulations to our 2026 Maine Air National Guard Outstanding Airmen of the Year!
As a Material Management Journeyman with the Logistics Readiness Squadron, SrA Izabella Willett expertly manages the supply chain, inventory, and logistics vital to the 101st ARW's mission. Demonstrating leadership beyond her rank, she serves with distinction as the Assistant NCOIC of the Maine State Honor Guard, where she instills a culture of precision and dignity.
SrA Willett has personally rendered full military honors at over 100 funeral services and expertly orchestrated 5 retirement ceremonies, including a notable service for a General Officer. To amplify her team's capabilities, she directed a key training initiative, dedicating 15 off-duty hours to mentor and certify 9 retirees in flag-folding protocols.
This action expanded the unit's capacity for full military honors by 25%, ensuring no veteran's family is denied this final tribute. Her dedication personifies the highest standards of the Maine Air National Guard and guarantees our nation's heroes receive the honor they have earned.
Way to go Izzy! So proud to have you on the BSD Team! Izzy serves as our mechanic in the Transportation Department. | | | |
Our district is committed to ensuring that professional development time directly supports high-quality teaching, student well-being, and school safety. Below is a clear summary of how educators used this time during the past month.
The protected professional development time on early release days provides essential time for educators to collaborate, analyze student learning, and plan high-quality instruction. This work directly supports student achievement and cannot be effectively completed during the regular school day.
During last week’s early release professional development sessions, staff focused on: Using student data to plan targeted small-group reading instruction
Collaborative planning to strengthen literacy instruction and ensure consistency across classrooms
Applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to create inclusive, accessible lessons
Student-centered team collaboration to identify needed student supports, interventions, and opportunities for acceleration
Interdisciplinary and department planning to align curriculum and instruction
Professional Learning Groups focused on reflective practice and continuous improvement
This collaborative professional learning strengthens instructional quality, ensures decisions are informed by data, and supports meeting the academic needs of all students. Early release days represent a direct investment in effective teaching and student success.
Professional development is a direct investment in students. Each of these activities helps educators strengthen instruction, enhance safety, and build supportive school environments where all students can thrive. | | | Merrymeeting has embarked on a new program designed for families.
