Another school year is almost in the books, and before everyone heads off to enjoy a Maine summer, I want to take a moment to thank our students, families, and staff. Whether you spent the year in a classroom, on a school bus, in the cafeteria, on the sidelines, or supporting learning from home, thank you. It truly takes a community, and Brunswick continues to show what that looks like.
As we head into summer, here is my unofficial Maine summer checklist:
Students: Put the backpack away, spend as much time outside as possible, jump in the ocean (if you dare), ride your bike, explore the woods, and don't forget to read a good book.
Families: Enjoy slower mornings, evenings on the deck, trips to the beach, backyard cookouts, and those precious days when nobody has to be anywhere by 7:30 a.m.
Teachers and Staff: Turn off the alarm clock, step away from the email inbox, and give yourselves the gift of rest. You have earned it.
Whether your summer includes camping, fishing, hiking, boating, traveling, or simply enjoying a quiet evening with friends and family, I hope it brings plenty of opportunities to recharge and make lasting memories.
One quick note: This will be my final weekly update of the 2025-2026 school year. While our schools may be quieter over the summer months, there will still be plenty happening behind the scenes as we prepare for another great year ahead. In fact, since we went so late into June, my team is going to work extra hard with less time to get those schools cleaned, repaired where needed, and ready for our staff and students in August. Look for the next newsletter on August 21st!
Until then, enjoy every Maine summer day you can. They go by far too quickly.
Have a safe, relaxing, and wonderful summer.
