Dear Members of the Brunswick School Community,

As you are no doubt aware, this weekend is Homecoming Weekend for Brunswick Schools. Homecoming is a time-honored tradition where alumni are invited back to campus, and students, families, and our community come together to celebrate and honor the traditions and history of the Brunswick Schools.

Homecoming Weekend feels different this year in light of the recent allegations of hazing, bullying, and harassment that occurred at the football team retreat. As I have shared with the community, we are thoroughly investigating these allegations to ascertain the facts and will take any and all appropriate steps to address all substantiated allegations. However, in light of this ongoing investigation, the administrative team and I have met and determined that we will cancel this evening’s BHS v. Lawrence High School varsity football game. Although this is a decision no school system wants to have to make, the administrative team and I felt that this was the right decision in light of the seriousness of the alleged violations of our school conduct rules.

I do want to be clear that all other Homecoming games will continue as scheduled this weekend. I am excited to share that our BHS Volleyball team will compete against Cheverus this afternoon and evening (JV game at 4:30; Varsity at 6:00 ).

The girls’ Field Hockey team will compete tomorrow against Lewiston (10:00 a.m. at Lewiston). The girls’ JV Field Hockey team will play at Lewiston tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.

The girls’ and boys’ Soccer Varsity and JV games are postponed due to weather.

We invite our parents, staff, students, and alumni to come out and support our student-athletes in these upcoming contests. Finally, on behalf of the entire administrative team, I want to wish our students the best of luck on the field and on the court.  Go Dragons!

 Sincerely,

Phillip J. Potenziano, Ed.D.
