Dear Brunswick High School Community,

Brunswick High School’s midterm exams will take place January  16 – January 19 (daily schedule below). Assessments will be administered to all students in grades 9-12. During midterm exam week, teachers will provide an exam (essay, multiple choice, etc.) or final experience (project, performance, etc.). The specific assessment format will be determined by the classroom teacher. Course grades along with other data will help guidance counselors and administrators identify students who could benefit from extra help/RTI A and B. Here are some additional important details about exam week:

  1. Prior to exam day, teachers will review with each class all material that will be assessed on the exam or final experience including the assessment format.

  2. Teachers will provide a midterm exam or final experience review sheet for each course.

  3. Teachers will review with their class how the exam or final experience impacts the course grade. Students’ Semester 1 grades are calculated by multiplying the 1st and 2nd quarter grades each by .45 and the exam grade calculated by .10. Additionally, the final course grade is the numeric average of the first and second semesters.

  4. Students are required to attend school only when they have an exam/experience.

  5. Bus transportation will be provided in the morning and at 11:30 a.m. when students are dismissed each day. A student may leave prior to 11:30 a.m. dismissal with parent permission. Please have your student drop off a parental note at the main office in the morning. The afternoon bus will depart each day at 2:15 p.m.

  6. Region 10 classes will not take place during midterm exams.

  7. The cafeteria and library will be open for quiet study and for students awaiting dismissal.

  8. Ms. Kundhardt and Ms. Vogel will provide stress management activities like playdough, games, coloring,  and walks with Elmer (our therapy dog) throughout the day.

  9. Breakfast and snacks are available during break time and a bag lunch upon dismissal.

  10. The midterm exam/experience will take place during the period scheduled for that class. If a student has an excused absence for the appointed exam period, please contact the teacher via phone or e-mail to reschedule.

  11. If school is canceled for some reason, the exam schedule will be adjusted to the following day. On a day when school is canceled for whatever reason, the exams scheduled for that day will take place on the next school day(e.g. exams scheduled for Wednesday, January 17 will take place on Thursday, January 18).
