Dear Staff, Students, and Parents:

As we reported in recent Community Newsletters, the State of Maine is discontinuing pooled testing on May 13.  BSD nurses still have an inventory of BinaxNOW rapid antigen tests and will continue to test members of the Brunswick School Community who are experiencing symptoms.

The State has provided us with at-home COVID test kits for all staff members and students.  Those test kits are being distributed to all staff and students this week.  The State has developed a short guiding document to address when staff and students would consider using the tests, how to order additional tests, and general guidance for individuals who are experiencing symptoms and/or are close contacts of individuals who have tests positive.  That document can be found here.

With the new reliance on at-home tests, it is important to notify your school nurse when you/your child tests positive for COVID-19.  We have developed school-specific forms to complete when your/your child tests positive for COVID.  Links to the forms are on the school webpages.  Simply click the REPORT POSITIVE COVID-19 TEST RESULTS on your school’s webpage.  Links to each form can also be found on the district webpage and below:

Finally, I encourage everyone to continue practicing healthy habits.  Wash/disinfect your hands frequently, wear a mask if you are experiencing symptoms, and stay home if you don’t feel well.  Together we can maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for our staff and students.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Shawn Lambert

Assistant Superintendent
