Dear Staff and Families,

Spring has sprung!  Snow is still a possibility but the promise of warmer weather is in the air.

Thank you to the 2400+ people who completed the End of Year Programming Survey.  Your response was overwhelming and gave us the information we needed to help us develop an increased in-person instructional program.  As a reminder, students who choose in-person instruction will begin attending school four days each week beginning April 26.  There are many details to work out.  We will provide details just as soon as we can.

As we near April break, some of you may be planning to travel out of the state.  I would like to remind you that Maine requires travelers to or from other states to get a recent negative COVID-19 test or quarantine for 10 days upon returning to the state.  There are two exceptions:

  1. Travel to or from other New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island is exempt from these testing and quarantining requirements.

  2. Individuals who have had COVID-19 in the previous 90 days or who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are exempt from these testing and quarantining requirements.

For international travel, all people who arrive in Maine within 7 days of entering the U.S. must quarantine for 7 days from the date of arrival in the U.S. AND get a COVID-19 test 3-5 days after arrival in the U.S. Even if the COVID-19 test is negative, individuals must complete the 7-day quarantine after travel. Individuals arriving from international travel who do not get a COVID-19 test should quarantine for 10 days after arrival in the U.S. Individuals who arrive in Maine more than 7 days after arrival in the U.S. should follow guidelines for domestic travelers arriving in Maine from non-exempt states.

The above requirements can be found at this State of Maine website.

Finally, please remember that all staff and students must continue to complete the Staff Health Screening Tool or the Student Health Screening Tool every day they are scheduled to come to school.  Both tools can be found on the BSD website and App.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Phillip Potenziano, Ed.D.
