Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023 - This is an Orange Day

  • Hello Seniors.  Please check out the Senior Classroom frequently this year for important information. There is a topic for the 2024 Yearbook to let us know if you want a school photo or to submit your senior photo and that will be due November 1st.   • Pride Club will be meeting in Room 214 every Tuesday during FLEX starting on September 12th (next week). Pride Club is a group for any students interested in making the school a welcoming place for all students and helping our community be safer for LGBTQIA+ people. Our first meeting will involve getting to know each other and discussing our goals for the year. If you are interested in joining, please follow this link to join the Google Classroom. If you have questions, you can email Ms. White and Ms. Poirier.

  • Yearbook is starting up after school 8/31 and will be meeting on Thursdays for an hour in room 135.  All are welcome to join.

  • CINEMA CLUB: Cinema Club will have its first meeting on TUESDAY September 12th during FLEX, in the STUDIO. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Weed.

  • BROADCASTING CLUB (FRIDAY 5): Broadcasting Club, will have its first meeting on FRIDAY September 15th during FLEX in the STUDIO. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Weed or Mr. Dudley.

  • Join the Competitive Cooking Club on Tuesday, Sept. 5. from 2:20 to 4:00.  A fun afternoon of cooking for creativity and a little friendly competition!!  All are welcome! See Mrs. Selberg in rm. 123 for more information!

  • Are you interested in Debate Team?! Come sign up in the main office! BHS is excited to get a team together to support the tradition of Speech and Debate!

  • Mock Trial Club is meeting this Tuesday the 5th after school in Mr. Lynch's room 212. Meeting is open to newcomers as well and there will be snacks!

  • The Math Team will be starting up on Tuesday, September 5th in Mr. Porter's classroom at 2:15.  If you are unable to make the first meeting, please see Mr. Porter or Mr. Choate.  Be there, or be a plane figure with 4 congruent sides and 4 right angles.

  • The Brunswick High School late bus service will begin on Monday, September 18. The bus will depart B.H.S. promptly at 3:45 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday when school is in session. To ride the late bus, students will need to secure a blue late bus pass from their teacher or the main office. For any questions regarding the late bus, please contact the Transportation Department at 319-1904.

  • The only way to start the year off right is with some new Dragon Swag to show your school spirit.  We are using a local company this year so items will be shipped as soon as the store closes.  Thank you for the support.

Volunteers needed: Saturday, September 9th from 5-9 at Wild Oats/Flight Deck.

-Directing parking

-Monitoring the basketball station

-Helping in the kids zone (arts and crafts)

-Setting up and breaking down

-Monitoring entrances to make sure alcohol does not leave the designated areas

  • Maine Venture Fund will host the 2nd annual Maine Startup Challenge business plan competition for 2023.

Details: Maine Startup Challenge is a business plan competition for Maine’s startup ecosystem. Our goal is to encourage participation and entrepreneurial thinking across all ages and stimulate the next generation of innovative Maine entrepreneurs. Business plans will be judged by a panel of Maine investors and entrepreneurs.

Tiers: K-8:  1st Place Prize, $1,000 and Runner-up, $500 High School:  1st Place Prize, $2,000 and Runner-up, $1,000 College: 1st Place Prize, $3,000 and Runner-up, $1,000 Open: 1st Place Prize, $8,000 and Runner-up, $2,500

Timeline: Applications will open Monday, September 4 and close Friday, September 29, 2023. The Maine Startup Challenge Showcase event will happen on October 18th at 4 PM at The Roux Institute, Portland.

DRAGONS SPORTS NEWS!!

  • Messalonskee 0-2 Brunswick Scorers & Assists: Goals from Molly Tefft and Lisi Palmer with assists from Emily Doring and Solveig Ledwick gave the Dragons victory in game one the Eagles in Oakland on Friday night. Shots: Messalonskee 2 Brunswick 15 Saves: Messalonskee 10 (Dovelyn Russell) Brunswick 2 (Julianna Morin) 

  • BHS JV 7 Messalonskee JV 0 Shots BHS 26 Messalonskee 2 Goals: Kyra Fortier (2), Lacey Dinsmore (2), Madison Neault, Riley Hall, Cecelia Smith. Assists: Madison Neault (3), Ellie Musica, May Wickwire Saves: Lisi Palmer 0, Juliana Morin 2 Kyra Fortier, Lacey Dinsmore and Madison Neaulty provided the offensive fireworks while May Wickwire and Sammy Vercoe played solid defense for the BHS girls' JV first game win.

  • Brunswick vs. Lewiston JV game It was an even match for the entire game. Lewiston had 4 shots on Brunswick goalies Ella Duchette and Sky Augustine. Brunswick Sadie Correa had 2 shots and one assist, Nieve Logan had 2 shots on goal and Darby Brown had 1 goal. The score was 0 to 0 with around 30 seconds left, when Brunswick earned an offensive corner. Time ran out as the corner began. The ball was inserted and another corner was called. With time completely out, Brunswick ran another corner and Darby pushed it into the goal. The team stormed the field!

  • On Friday the cross country team hosted a home meet which included Boothbay/Wiscasset, Morse, Mt. Ararat, Medomak Valley and Messalonskee. The girls team was led by Maeve Wooodruff who came in first place overall and set a new Brunswick High School course record of 19:33 on the 5k course. The girls team placed first overall with Ellie Gilman in 4th, Lei Lei Casey in 10th, Molley Bennett in 13th, Hazel Goodwin in 26th, rounding out the varsity were Loring Boak, and Nadine Albough. The boys team also placed first overall as a team. Ben Klingle led all runners placing first overall. He was followed by Ryan McPherson in 3rd, Marshall Wall in 4th, Nate Wayne in 6th, Sam Cashman in 7th. Finishing in scoring places were also Gabe Eason in 9th and Jonathan Koeler in 10th.
