UNE Health Programs - exploration and New Mainer

“The Maine AHEC Network aims to alleviate significant healthcare workforce shortages in our communities through the delivery of health career exploration programs that support Maine youth on their path to a health profession.

Engaging students through pipeline activities — particularly students from rural communities — is critical since growing up in a rural area is a strong predictor of future rural practice. To increase the diversity of the healthcare workforce, youth programs also focus on supporting youth from populations that are under-represented in the health field.”

The Landing School of Boat Building and Yacht Design is hosting two open houses to coincide with February vacation. One will take place on Thursday Feb 22 from 10-12 and the other will be on Wednesday Feb 28 from 2-4.

The Interact Club will be selling Valentine's Day candygrams during lunches from Thursday 2/8 - Monday 2/12. You can purchase candy hearts for $1 or a small box of chocolates for $2 to be delivered during Flex on Valentine's Day. Stop by during lunch or see Mrs. Ostrov if you'd like to purchase any!

CPR TRAINING! STARTING TODAY: every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, there is going to be the opportunity to learn and practice Hands On Adult CPR in room 120 (the health room) during the FLEX activity period.  10 people can practice each session.

Balanced Attack leads Brunswick Girls Hockey past Lewiston

Five different players tallied goals for Brunswick and nine players had at least an assist as Brunswick powered past Lewiston Thursday night in quarterfinal action at Bowdoin College.

After a scoreless first period, the Dragons got three goals each in the second and third periods to put the game away, none prettier than Emily Wallace's wicked wrister in the second period to break the game open and put Brunswick up by two.

Lisi Palmer had two goals for the 3rd-seeded Dragons while Lauren Labbe had a goal and two assists. Gillian Countway, Emily Wallace and Lily Calderwood also found the net. Solveig Ledwick and Natalie Perham each had a pair of assists while Celeste Braillard and Quinn McCormack rounded out the scoring with an assist each.

Alana Wheeler kept things close for Lewiston, stopping 21 of 27 shots while Hensleigh Labonte turned aside 8 of the 9 shots she faced.

The Dragons return to the Northern Maine Semi-finals for the second consecutive year and face the Penobscot-Bangor-Brewer-Orono consortium on Saturday at the Colisee.
