What's Happening at BHS

Monday, April 8th, 2024 - Today is an ORANGE day

This Wednesday, April 10, BHS Student Government is holding an Open Forum during FLEX in Crooker Theater! We want to hear real feedback from BHS about how we can help make their experience better, and also share with the BHS community what we’re already doing to improve our school. We’re also hoping to collect feedback beforehand, so if you already have thoughts you want to share, please fill out this Google Form. Come swing by during FLEX on Wednesday to join the conversation!

Some things to mention: The design does not say BHS Pride Club so that anyone can purchase and wear it around, especially in the month of June! There are also several options for what type of shirt you may want (regular tee, long sleeve, hoodie, crewneck sweatshirt).

Also, we have a Give Butter account linked on the form for online payment, or you can drop off payment at BHS, or give your payment to Ms. White or Ms. Poirier.  When the shirts are in, you can pick them up in your flex or in the main office.

Thank you in advance if you decide to order a shirt.  We are so honored to be able to interact with all of you amazing fellow humans.

Sincerely,

BHS Pride Club

If you didn't already hear, there will be a total solar eclipse passing through Maine on Monday, April 8 around 3:30 pm! Although Brunswick is not in the path of totality, we will get a magnitude of ~97% which is still pretty dang cool. We will be hosting a viewing party after school here at BHS to watch it safely.

Eclipse Safety: The sun will not appear as bright during the eclipse but that does not mean that it will be any less harmful if you stare at it! We do not have pain receptors on our retinas so without protective eyewear, you run the risk of permanent damage to your retina and cone/rod cells. Regular sunglasses are not safe for viewing the sun; make sure your solar eclipse glasses comply with the ISO 12312-2 international standard. Check out Total Solar Eclipse Safety from NASA to learn more.

The Athletic Department is looking for students interested in Digital Content Creation for the spring season. Students would be responsible for taking photos/videos and creating content for Brunswick Athletics social media pages. All content will be approved by the Athletic Director before posting. Community service hours are available for students, as well as valuable experience for anyone considering a future in Digital Creation.

College Rep Visits are BACK!

Every month in the guidance office we have colleges from all over the country coming to BHS for college visits. This is the perfect time to start exploring colleges you or your student is interested in and ask questions. Please check the calendar with dates and times for each school visiting. A monthly update will go out in Google Classrooms and through ReachMyTeach. The visits are scheduled for one hour with the college representative and will take place in the guidance office. Please email Mrs. Boies at kboies@brunswicksd.org if you want to meet with the rep!
