Students in Ms. Novak’s class took on the “Commonalities” challenge during their BARR lesson! 🍦📚🎬 They compared favorites—like ice cream flavors, school subjects, and movies—and built sticky note towers as they found things in common. The more connections, the taller the tower! 🧱✨

Wild Oats Bakery & Café Honored as 2025 MSBA Business Friend of Education
The Brunswick School Department is proud to announce that Wild Oats Bakery & Café has been awarded the 2025 Maine School Boards Association (MSBA) Business Friend of Education Award.
Wild Oats has been an exceptionally generous and steadfast partner, supporter, and friend of the Brunswick School Department for decades. Founded in 1991 by Becky and David Shepherd, Wild Oats has long been a cornerstone of the Brunswick community—not only as a beloved local business, but as a champion for education and student success. The Shepherds’ connection to Brunswick schools runs deep: all four of their children graduated from the Brunswick School Department, and their son Marshall Shepherd now serves as a managing partner in the family business.
“It would be difficult to find a more committed, generous, and education-minded business,” said School Board Chair Beth Bisson. “We are extremely grateful for all the ways Wild Oats Bakery & Café has supported Brunswick’s school staff, students, and families.”
From providing food for school events to supporting staff recognition efforts and community fundraisers, Wild Oats has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the people and programs that make Brunswick schools thrive.
The Brunswick School Department extends heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to Wild Oats Bakery & Café for this well-deserved recognition.

👥 “Would you rather be around a bunch of people or by yourself?”
This activity helped students strengthen communication, practice active listening, and find new connections across their classrooms. We loved hearing their creative, funny, and thoughtful responses! 💬❤️

Our 3rd–5th graders created “Rainbows in the Clouds” after learning about Dr. Maya Angelou’s message to be a rainbow in someone else’s life. Students shared ideas like “smile at them” or “be funny when someone is sad.” Each class had its own unique rainbow design—bright with kindness and creativity! 🌈💛
